Professor of Architectural Redevelopment and Preservation
The Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position. The professorship is assigned to the Institute of Historic Building Research and Conservation (IDB).
The new professor is called upon to impart to Bachelor and Master students the principles underlying architectonic design in the context of building redevelopment with special regard to the preservation of historic building fabric, along with the methodologies and expertise specific to these fields. Architectonic design necessarily calls for a fundamental interest in other disciplines and a readiness to integrate knowledge of them in one’s teaching approach. Cooperation with the Chair of Building Archaeology and Construction History is of particular importance.
The future professor contributes to further developing course content and research in light of current academic and scientific advancements. Research topics may lie in the field of architectural preservation and be pursued from an interdisciplinary perspective, for instance in combination with building archaeology, construction history, engineering, the humanities, the social sciences, or material development.
