European Heritage Days 2018
No passport or visa is required to attend this year's European Heritage Days. Those who dare to travel in September 2018 will gain insights behind the scenes of historical monuments in Switzerland.
Let us widen our view, let us visit each other! This year's European Heritage Days will take place not on a single weekend as usual, but on four weekends in September. Under the motto "Without Borders", each region presents its cultural heritage and invites neighbours from home and abroad to visit. The festive occasion for this unique format is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Swiss Heritage Days and the European Cultural Heritage Year 2018, under the patronage of Federal Councillor Alain Berset.
The theme "Without Borders" invites visitors to the 2018 Heritage Days to cross borders not only geographically but also linguistically, chronologically, materially or socially. How do we develop our cultural heritage for future generations? How do we deal with young monuments? Is it possible to consider material and immaterial heritage separately? What do children and migrants see when they stand in front of a monument? Who's listening?
The monument days are structured as follows:
1/2 September 2018: BE, FR, GE, JU, NE, VD, VS
8-9 September 2018: GR, LU, NW, OW, SO, SZ, TI, UR, ZG
15-16 September 2018: AI, AR, GL, SG, SH, TG, ZH, FL
22/23 September 2018: AG, BL, BS
